On The Way To Yellowstone

The drive to northwestern Wyoming carried us by Pashaska Tepee which was the hunting lodge that belonged to Buffalo Bill Cody.  We were amazed that the lodge had 12 bedrooms for his guests as well as ample room to entertain guests - some of whom were the Prince of Monaco and President Theodore Roosevelt.  It was intriguing to see how the lodge was built out of the local timbers and mountain boulders.

It was really cold as we toured the lodge.... in fact, the tour guide had on a coat and scarf because there wasn't any heat in the lodge and the wind was howling!  As we continued our drive, we passed over mountains that had snow on them.  The truck thermometer read 37 degrees, and it was June 21!.  Once we came to a crawling pace behind several other vehicles and campers because a buffalo was leisurely walking in the road.  As we approached him, he began to trot and we drove by easily.  We also saw  forest devastated by the 1998 fire. But most of the scenery we saw created great anticipation in us, and we could hardly believe our eyes at the gorgeous mountains and lakes.

My next post will be all about touring Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks.  Until later, God bless.
